Welcome to CoxTor class! We are a bit different because we have our own doors to come in and out of, and we use the CoxTor toilets instead of the PewTor cloakroom toilets. We love being so close to the ICT suite and being able to see the trees and wildlife out of our classroom windows and doors.
In English, we have just started a poetry unit based on our core text- 'A River' by Marc Martin.

Our grammar focus for this unit will be choosing powerful verbs and prepositional phrases.
Last unit, we focused on adding detail and description to 'paint a picture' for the reader. We will apply our knowledge of noun phrases using adjectives to our poems.
In Maths, we will be learning about statistics with the aim to apply these skills across the subjects. In this unit children and students explore the collection, representation, analysis and interpretation of data.
Children will be expected to :
➢ interpret and present data using bar charts, pictograms and tables
➢ solve one-step and two-step questions [for example, ‘How many more?’ and ‘How many fewer?’] using information presented in scaled bar charts and pictograms and tables.
In topic, we will be finding out about the Romans in order to answer our key question 'How did the Romans change Britain?'.
In science, we are learning about rocks and soils. The children will:
Compare and group together different kinds of rocks on the basis of their simple, physical properties.
Relate the simple, physical properties of some rocks to their formation (igneous or sedimentary)
Describe in simple terms how fossils are formed when things that have lived are trapped in sedimentary rock.
Explain how and why fossils are found in certain rock types.
Explain that soils are made from rocks and organic matter.
Examine and do practical experiments on various types of rocks in order to group them on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties.
