In english, we're looking at the twisted tale from Straw into Gold. We will look carefully at ensuring our sentences are punctuated correctly and using dialogue and description to show character.

Welcome back!! Hope you all had a great Christmas break. This week, we are going to focus on reminding ourselves of expectations around learning and behaviour. Throughout the week, the children will be taking part in Bikeability sessions, finishing our geography work on volcanoes and learning about sketching and shading. The children will also complete their Star reader assessment this week.
Please can all children bring in their yellow reading diary in every day. Thank you!
W/O 6th December
After a busy week of assessment, we are back in the swing of things!
Maths- We have finished our first unit on decimals but we will be using and applying what we know in lots of other areas!
Moving on, we are looking at addition and then subtraction, making choices about whether we can calculate mentally or need the column method. Towards the end of the unit we will link this to use what we know to estimate and use the inverse to check our calculations.
English- Our new unit is based on the text '101 Things To Do to Become a Superhero... or an evil villain'. This week are learning all about the test, responding as a reader and starting to think about what features are included in an instruction text.
Corbett Maths has a wealth of videos, quizzes and questions, and great practice papers.

07/9/21 Welcome back!!
What a lovely first day back! The children have come back with smiles on their faces and such a positive attitude. I hope you've all had lovely summer breaks; it has been lovely to hear about all the fun things you've been up to.
In the next couple of days, we will send home a letter with all the details and homework, reading books and general info. In the meantime, we have a couple of days focusing on settling back in, looking at routines and expectations but please get in touch if you have anything urgent.
